A £3.5million reservoir scheme serving South East Wales was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Cardiff 50 years ago today.
The reservoir at Llandegveth (which is how the Argus then spelled the name of the scheme) would serve Gwent and Cardiff.
Cardiff City Council, Newport and South Monmouthshire Water Board, Pontypool and District Water Company, and Abertillery and Distrist Water Board had been associates in the scheme.
