A GRIFFITHSTOWN church hall committee is holding an open day with hopes to attract new business – a year after the building underwent reopened following a £600,000 refurbishment.
More than 200 people attended the reopening of St Hilda’s Church Hall, in Griffithstown, following a refurbishment in May last year.
Now the hall’s committee will be holding two open days to show off the versatility of the premises.
The committee hopes this will attract new service users, from people wanting to host exercise and dance classes, hold board meetings, or enjoy their wedding receptions there.
The hall, which was built in 1927, has been revamped brought up to the 21st century with improvements including a new kitchen, new toilets and disabled facilities, new heating and electrics.
The upstairs room has been transformed into three offices and a conference room, which can be used for meetings of up to 25 people.
Funding of £329,132 came from a National Lottery people and places grant, while and £300,000 came from a community facilities and activities grant distributed by the Welsh Assembly Government.
People can call into the hall on Friday, June 13, and Saturday, June 14, to take a look at the building. It will open between 11am and 4pm on the Friday and 10am and 4pm on the Saturday.
Refreshments available will also be served.
