THE Llantarnam Scout Group have rejuvenated the garden of a Cwmbran primary school as part of their community week.
The group of 25 children have been planting flowers, painting fences and weeding the garden of Llantarnam Primary School in aid of national Scout Community Week which took place this month.
A host of Gwent business donated materials and funding for the garden including NPT Waste Solutions who donated £200.
Sarah Williams, group scout leader, said: “This week has gone amazingly well, the children have really enjoyed themselves. We’ve had lots of donations from businesses and many parents have come down to lend a hand.
“It’s great to be able to give something back to the school. The garden is something which all the children can use and benefit from.
“We have painted the chicken coop and parts of the garden different colours which will help the children with colour recognition. We are still in need of further donations for learning boards to transform the garden into an outdoor classroom.”
The garden includes a pond, snail canopy and a chicken coop which will house four chickens who will be cared for by the children.
