THE GWENT AM who faced action over whether he was drunk in the Senedd, will not now be investigated, the Presiding officer of the Assembly has said.
A complaint was made that Monmouth AM Nick Ramsay appeared drunk during an Assembly debate on mental health issues last week. He had denied the allegation.
A spokesman for the Assembly said: "The Presiding Officers have looked into the circumstances thoroughly and have reached their conclusions. They confirmed that there were not grounds to call the Member to order during the plenary session on 10 June. He added they "will not be making any further statement about the matter".
In a statement at the time, a spokesman for the Welsh Conservatives said: "Nick Ramsay was making valid contributions in an important debate on mental health".
The row was sparked by a letter from Jonathan Williams of Whitchurch in Cardiff to Cardiff AM Julie Morgan.
The complaint alleged that Nick Ramsay’s “contributions were slurred, incoherent and insolent” on more than one occasion.
