A GWENT artist met boxing star Amir Khan as he painted a picture of him in action.
Patrick Killian, from Newbridge, got out his brushes and canvas during the evening of dinner and discussion with Mr Khan and painted him using a picture of his fight with Marcos Maidana and inspiration from the man in person.
After he finished the painting at the Hilton Hotel in Sheffield on Friday, Amir Khan posed with the finished work and signed it.
Mr Killian said: “Amir is one of the leading fighters in this country and it was great to finally meet him. He loved the piece and his agent wants me to produce one for his home. I will be working with them in the near future helping raise funds for the Amir Khan foundation. I am pleased to say that the signed original has sold to a London dealer.
“During the evening he discussed his entire career, including winning silver at the Olympics. It was a really good night.”
Boxing fan Patrick Killian has previously painted Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, George Frochs and Carl Groves as well as other leading figures from the sporting world.
