PONTYPOOL school teachers have raised over £1,000 for charity after completing a bike ride.
West Monmouth School teachers took part in the Dalmatian Bike Ride in aid of St Anne’s and St David’s Hospice earlier this month.
The team was made up of teachers Chris Mullins, Owen Mullins, Martin Cudlip, Ian Jennings, Gareth Cooksey, Chris Chapman, Julian Barnes, Andrew Protherough-Jones and Gavin Lee.
The group covered 45 miles along the canal from Brecon to Caerleon on Saturday June 7. and finished at 4pm.
Design technology teacher and head of year 10, Chris Mullins, said: “The first 15 miles were difficult as it was like riding through a quagmire with lots of muddy puddles.
“It was tough, especially with the rain at the start, but we finished it and it hasn’t put us off entering again next year.”
The group have raised around £1,000 for charity with the total set to raise further as more funds are to be collected.
