ENTRIES are still open for our children’s art competition to celebrate some of the famous works of art in Monmouthshire.
The beautiful landscape of the county is something which has inspired artists and writers throughout history and this summer Chepstow and Abergavenny Museums will be marking this when some of the most famous and priceless paintings of Tintern Abbey and Llanthony Priory will be on display for you to enjoy for free.
To add to the celebrations and to mark the “Sites of Inspiration” exhibitions, your Free Press is now asking for the budding young artists out there to draw or paint your very own ‘site of inspiration’ and send it to us. In return, we have some fabulous prizes on offer.
In the pre-school competition, the first prize is a box set of Dragon’s Tales by Llanthony Valley based children’s author Caroline Downey plus an ice-cream sundae or cream tea in the Garden Room at The Anchor, overlooking Tintern Abbey.
Second prize is a water colour book by Tracey-Ann Sitch, donated by Craft Renaissance Gallery, Abergavenny, while third prize is a £10 book token from Chepstow Book Shop
In the primary age category, first prize is a ‘make your own fresh pasta’ course by Tori Biggs of Kingstone Brewery, Tintern, plus an ice-cream sundae or cream tea in the Garden Room at The Anchor, overlooking Tintern Abbey.
Second prize is a water colour book by Tracey-Ann Sitch donated by Craft Renaissance Gallery, Abergavenny while third prize is a £10 book token from Chepstow Book Shop
In the secondary age category, first prize is a bush craft or baking course at Humble by Nature working farm plus an ice-cream sundae or cream tea in the Garden Room at The Anchor, overlooking Tintern Abbey.
