FAST and furious family fun is guaranteed as British motorsport prepares for one of the biggest events in its annual sporting calendar with the return of the British FIM Speedway Grand Prix to Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on Saturday July 12 – the foruteenth year the hugely popular event has taken place in the city.

Thousands of fans are set to descend on the Welsh capital for a day jam packed with action as current British World Speedway Champion, Tai Woffinden seeks victory on home soil.

The crowd is guaranteed to go wild for 23 year-old Woffinden who, despite leaving Cardiff last year with a broken collarbone after spectacularly crashing out of the event, bounced right back to become World Champion in October 2013.

The event forms part of a hugely competitive FIM Speedway Grand Prix season, with Woffinden up against three riders with six World Championships between them in Greg Hancock, Nicki Pedersen and Chris Holder – sending the competition into top gear.

Adding to the excitement, fellow Brits Chris Harris and Craig Cook will also form part of the Grand Prix line up, having been handed Wild Card places.

The event guarantees high speed drama with riders reaching speeds of up to 70mph, competing on 500cc bikes with no brakes and acceleration that’s faster than an F1 car!

Activities on July 12 will begin in the fanzone, situated in front of Cardiff Central Station and featuring entertainment including live music, a chance to meet the riders during autograph sessions, a host of stalls and appearances from local sports clubs including the Cardiff Devils.

The British FIM Speedway Grand Prix itself will start with pre-event entertainment in the Millennium Stadium followed by the Grand Prix (5pm start), and finishing with a fantastic firework display.
