TRAFFIC ground to a halt during rush hour on the M4 around Newport this morning after a dog was reported to be lose on the road.
Gwent Police received a report of a greyhound loose close to the Coldra at 8.25am this morning.
A rolling road block held back the traffic while officers rescued the animal, which already had a slight leg injury.
A Gwent Police spokesman said the dog has now been taken to the vets for treatment and that attempts will be made to trace its owner. Traffic is now returning to normal.
