A NEWPORT woman was granted a visit from city mayor Cllr Matthew Evans at a special birthday party on reaching her century at the weekend.
Annie Hobbs, who was born in Ireland, had relatives who travelled into Newport from the United States and others from her home country for her party at Tregwillym Lodge nursing home in Rogerstone.
Mrs Hobbs, who moved to Wales when she was 18, worked as a residential homes matron.
Among the guests at Sunday’s party were her nephew and niece from Florida.
