Andy Howells chats to Lisa from Mega Emotion
Who are you and where do you originate from?
We’re Lisa, Iain and Jan Emotion and we all hail from Norwich.
How long have you been together as a band?
We’ve been doing Mega Emotion for almost a year now. We started off mainly making dance music, but we missed using guitars and drums so we went back to the drawing board. We holed ourselves up in the wilds of Norfolk and started over – this time aiming at a really big live sound that’s precise and chaotic in equal measure. We played our first gig in September 2013 and released our first demo BRAINS at around the same time.
How would you describe your style of music?
That’s a tricky one – I guess we’re somewhere on the dance end of indie music. If you think of a big Venn diagram of music, we’re probably the orange bit where electro meets post punk and white noise, with a bit of 80s nostalgia thrown in.
What's your best live experience so far?
Probably playing in Bristol last year with our friends Expensive and Alto 45. It was just a tiny place, but the whole crowd was really up for having a party. We also played in a nuclear bunker in Norwich a couple of weeks ago which was pretty awesome!
Tell us about your new release!
Our debut EP ‘Fake Feelings’is out now on red and yellow cassette with a free download. We promised anyone who pre-ordered a copy their own personal song recorded onto the tape but didn’t envisage it would sell out in a couple of hours. We now have an awful lot of work to do writing and recording a huge batch of unique songs for people!
