A NEWPORT fundraiser is looking for teams to join a charity “It’s a Knockout” fun swim to raise money for St David’s Foundation Hospice Care in memory of her son.
Jackie Lewis is organising her second annual charity fun swim for all abilities at Newport International Sport’s Village (NISV) this Sunday, to raise money for the hospice, which cared for her son.
Steven Lewis, a Newport lifeguard, died in December 2011, aged 31, after battling stomach cancer.
The family fun day event is being held from 1.15pm until 4.15pm.
Mrs Lewis is asking people in Gwent to take part in the event to raise much-needed funds for St David’s Hospice.
She needs teams of four to six people to register to take part in the event. She already has 10 teams signed up, but is hoping more will join up.
A trophy and medals will be presented to the winning team, and runners up will also be given a medal. Spectators will be charged 50p to attend and children go free.
Mrs Lewis is aiming to raise £33,333.33 and is currently on £26,453.33.
