A MUSIC video showing Newport at its happiest, has now reached the Foreign Office.
The Big Splash festival, made its own version of 'Happy' by Pharrell Williams' at this year's event on Saturday May 31 and June 1, featuring Big Splash staff, performers and festival-goers.
The music video, published online on July 3, has already attracted more than 10,000 views on Youtube. But now, 'Happy Newport' has been shared on the Foreign Office's Facebook site as well as finding fans in the Nato Summit Wales 2014 camp, who have shared it though Twitter and Google, eager to show-off the beaming host city.
The all-singing, all-dancing viral hit features cameo appearances from lots of familiar faces including city traders, local dance groups and even the city mayor, Cllr Matthew Evans.
Rogerstone labour councillor, Chris Evans, said: "Newport might not appear in the logo, but, after a little bit of tongue in cheek lobbying, by ‘Newport Rises’ members, we’ve got the ‘happy Newport ‘video literally international exposure, with Foreign office's Facebook site.
"Jon from the newsagent has even invited NATO members for a tour of our market quarter, which Nato Wales retweeted. So who knows, just goes to show what a bit of positivity can do. As I’ve said before, we’ve got to do all we can to ensure Newport businesses benefit as much as they can from the summit. I for one am determined to help put pounds in tills by promoting our city, helping make that happen."
