HE'S created everything from a portrait of Simon Cowell using toast and Marmite to one of Prince Harry using ginger nut biscuits - and now Ebbw Vale food artist Nathan Wyburn will be showing off some of his best work in his first-ever exhibition next month.

Mr Wyburn, 24, will showcase his work at the Cardiff Story museum for two months from August 1 with the opening night kicking off at 7pm.

The event will see some of his most high-profile work on display.

This comes with the launch of his first book in October featuring his best work and his autobiography.

“The book is coming on really well,” he said.

“I have just been given my first exhibition at Cardiff Story museum, so it’s all coming together.”

Alongside this Mr Wyburn has just completed a high profile project for Birds Eye where he was commissioned to create five portraits of stars famous on Twitter.

“The project was called #mashtag playing upon the Birds Eye products,” he said.

“I used rice and peas to create the portraits of the five winners of a Twitter poll asking users what they loved and who was the most controversial on Twitter.

“Stephen Fry was the most loved, while Russell Brand was the most talked about."

The artists other food creations included Lady Gaga and Ricky Gervais and took the artist 24 hours to make following his initial commission by Birds Eye just last week.

“I was working them on Thursday and Friday last week,” he continued.

“It was one of my favourite commissions as I think they worked out better than some of my other stuff.

“They fit in with my style of work quite well as my work is quite pop-culture focused and I used social media a lot.

“It was quite cool.

“I will be putting Russel Brand and Stephen Fry in my book.”

Mr Wyburn is also delighted with the recognition of his portrait of Perez Hilton by the star himself who Tweeted praise across social media and made a YouTube video asking his fans to check out his work.

“Perez replied to me on Twitter and posted about the portrait in Twitter and Facebook and gave me a shout out on YouTube," he said.

“It would be great to try and break America with my work.”
