TWO carnivals and a 1940s-themed event are set to hit Gwent this weekend as the sunny weather continues and temperatures are expected to stay warm.
Carnival fans will be able to enjoy two in one day with both Pontypool Carnival and Abergavenny Carnival taking place on Saturday, July 12.
Pontypool Carnival, which this year is World Cup Mardi Gras themed, will see a professional mountainbike stunt display act perform in the main arena.
Punters can also enjoy performances from music, dance and martial arts acts as well as the carnival’s fairground, inflatables, climbing wall, market stalls and go-karts from 12pm to 6pm.
The carnival at Abergavenny will include a parade of floats around the town before ending their journey in Bailey Park.
Meanwhile those keen to travel back in time can pop along to the Wartime Weekend at the Blaenavon Heritage Railway between Blaenavon and Brynmawr on Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13.
The wartime-themed event will give railway fans the chance to ride on two wartime steam trains, including the 100-year-old Rosyth locomotive.
There will also be 1940s-style entertainment while children can explore a bombed-out house and wartime garden, glimpse a crashed Messerschmitt plane and browse the vintage stalls and World War Two food restaurant.
Tickets for the wartime weekend cost £8 for adults, £4 for children or a family ticket, for two adults and up to three children, costs £20.
