A MAN died after being hit by a train in Ponthir yesterday.

The 36-year-old from the Cwmbran area was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene on Station Road.

A British Transport Police spokesman said they were called at 6.42pm and that the incident is being treated as non-suspicious.

He added officers were in the process of informing his family and a file will be prepared for the Coroner.
