A WOMAN from Caerwent appeared before Cardiff Crown court today charged with causing the death of an elderly Ponthir couple through dangerous driving.
Taylor McDonnell, 20, of Carrow Road, is charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.
It is alleged McDonell caused the death of Joyce and Denis Drew on November 13 of last year, while driving a Toyota Aygo on Caerleon Road in Ponthir.
Mrs Drew, 86, died shortly after the incident and Mr Drew, also 86, was admitted to hospital where he died on November 19.
The pair had been married since 1959 and had two daughters.
McDonnell was released on unconditional bail. She will return to court in September for a plea hearing.
