A NEWPORT teenager suffered multiple facial injuries after a man smashed a bottle into his face yesterday.
Police in Newport are appealing for information following an assault which occurred on Malpas Road in the early hours of July 20.
The incident occurred sometime between 4am and 4.15am close to the old Sainsbury's building.
The victim - an 18 year old man from Newport- was with a group of friends and walking towards McDonalds in Shaftesbury when he was approached by a man who assaulted him by smashing a bottle into his face.
The victim sustained several lacerations to his face for which he needed hospital treatment. He has since been released.
The offender ran off towards the city centre. He is described as white, in his 20s, slim build with mousey/ fair short hair. The man was wearing a white t-shirt or polo shirt possibly with red writing or a design on the front and blue jeans.
Police are appealing for any information or witnesses to the incident to call them on 101 quoting log 130 20/7/14
