A 16-YEAR-OLD girl had her head shaved to send her uncle who's currently undergoing cancer treatment on holiday.
Seren Thomas-Wilcox from Cwmbran raised more than £700 by having her head shaved at the Rhys Giles Salon in Cwmbran. Her uncle Rob Wilcox, 60, from Sebastopol, was diagnosed last year with throat cancer and has hust finished a round of chemotherapy at Velindre Cancer Centre.
Darren Wilcox, Seren's father, said: "Seren really wanted to do something for her uncle and send him on holiday when he is feeling up to it. Her auntie Jane has had to stop work to support her husband so she wanted to do something nice for the both of them.
"The support has been excellent, a lot of the money has come from my uncle's old rugby friends from 40 od years ago when he used to play for Panteg RFC. He was really touched by all the support from everyone and the gesture from Seren."
The Croesyceiliog School pupil said: "It went really well, I was quite nervous but I quite like it now as it's much easier to care for. I think my uncle is quite proud of me."
The money will be used to send Mr and Mrs Wilcox on holiday to Tenby which is one of their favourite holiday spots.
