AN USK hotel will host some of the UK’s most popular bands at its weekend festival next month, including Newport's Goldie Looking Chain.

The Feeling and Scouting For Girls will play at The Three Salmons Hotel’s Salmonsfest which is being held over the August Bank Holiday weekend, from Friday, August 22 until Sunday, August 24.

The Feeling with headline Friday, August 22’s concert, Scouting For Girls will headline on the Saturday. Goldie Lookin’ Chain will play on the Sunday.

They will be joined over the weekend by Chasing Grace, Stereosonics, The Earth, 2 Rude, 4th Street Traffic, Peasants King, The Maydays and Monmouthshire’s Rusty Shackle.

The hotel’s general manager, Morgan Grove, said it was the third year that the venue had put on a festival but the first time they had tried to attract internationally-known headliners.

He said: “It’s not the biggest venue in the world but it’s intimate.”

The festival will be held in the hotel’s car park and garden and can accommodate up to 1,000 festival goers.

Scouting For Girls were nominated for three BRIT awards in 2009 for British Breakthrough Act, British Live Act and British Single with their song Heartbeat. They were also nominated for the BRIT award for Best British Single with This Ain’t A Love Song.

While The Feeling won the Songwriters of the Year category at the Ivor Novello Awards in 2007. They were also nominated as Best Band at the NME Awards and for the Best Song award at the BRITs for Fill My Little World in the same year

Tickets are £70 for the weekend, £30 for day tickets and children’s tickets start at £10.
