A NEWPORT manufacturing company has completed a charity bike ride for Macmillan Cancer Support, raising over £3,500.
The team from TT Electronics Integrated Manufacturing Services Ltd, Newport, rode 200 miles from Chepstow to Pembroke over three days in May in support of the company’s charity of the year.
Undertaking the challenge was Richard Croad, Steve Reynolds, Barry Hackling, Nigel Palmer, Gareth Sandfor, Dean Harris and Jonathan Haynes.
The colleagues elected to take on another challenge following their charity bike ride in 2013, which raised over £7,600.
Following their success, they felt this year’s challenge should be tougher and the route and the weather didn’t disappoint.
“We encountered very wet weather including thunder and lightning along the way - one of our riders even took a plunge into three feet of water,” said Mr Croad.
The team, who also had to negotiate past an angry bull along the way, said they were delighted with the support they received.
He added: “Our challenge was tough but nothing compared to those people who face cancer and we are glad to have done our bit to help.”
Fund-raising manager for the TT partnership, Helene Poursain, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to the team and the generosity of their supporters.
“Without these donations Macmillan simply wouldn’t be able to continue providing the vital services that we do to help people affected by cancer.”
