A GWENT-based car club raised £600 for charity by hosting a special event on Thursday evening.
The Forresters Car Club held its annual car show at Newtown Motors in Cwmbran for the fifth time after they were given the use of the dealership’s forecourt for free. All money raised will go to the St David's Hospice.
A member of the club, Shirley Saunders, said about 50 car owners from as far as Hereford and Bridgend travelled to Gwent to show off their vehicles.
And she said the event had gone “even better than expected”.
Money was raised by holding a raffle, a balloon race and selling trips in a Morgan 3 Wheeler.
Torfaen’s mayor Cllr Mandy Owen attended the event and stayed for about two hours, Mrs Saunders said.
The club was founded in 1967 and meets every Thursday at the Croeseceiliog Rugby and Cricket Club.
And its members mainly come together for car rallies. Three of them are held each year at the disused military base at Caerwent. The next one will take place on September 28.
