THE family of a missing Cwm man have told the Argus they are worried sick by the pensioner's ‘out of character’ disappearance.
Police are appealing for help in finding 79-year-old David Edwards who has been missing from his home in Cwm for five days.
Mr Edwards was last seen at midday on Saturday July 26.
His niece, Tracey Rowland, 51, from Ebbw Vale, said: “All the family are worried about him. We are so concerned, we just want him home safe and sound.
“He has never gone missing before, it’s completely out of character.”
She told the Argus Mr Edwards is from a big family, who are all 'worried sick' about his disappearance.
She said Mr Edwards worked in both the mining industry and in the steelworks before he retired, and has suffered with a bad back for several years.
“You could say he suffered with some ill health,” she said. “He takes tablets for his blood pressure. We think he may be a little bit depressed at the moment, but this came out of the blue. It’s so strange, and not at all like him.
“We all just want home home safe and well. If anyone sees him, please call the police on 101 and let us know.
“I last saw him on Friday and he looked quite frail, but he seemed okay in himself. It's so strange and unexpected.
"We just want him home.”
Mr Edwards is described as white, around five feet two inches tall, of frail build with shaved grey/white hair. He was last seen wearing light blue stripy shirt and brown trousers.
Anyone with information relating to his whereabouts is asked to call Gwent Police on 101 quoting log 202 28/07/14.
