THIS year’s Blaenavon Brass Band summer school concluded with a concert in the Workmen’s Hall for parents and supporters.
The eighth annual summer school took place from Tuesday to Thursday with 18 young musicians, aged between ten and 17, and six adults, all from the band or the local school.
Players of all abilities were invited to attend to increase their playing confidence and learn new skills.
Instruments included trombones, tenor horns, euphonium and baritones.
At the concert, in front of an audience made up of 25 parents and band supporters, the band played nine pieces.
Alongside traditional brass pieces, the band performed I Predict a Riot by Kaiser Chiefs, The Final Countdown by Europe and The Washington Post march by John Philip Sousa.
Junior band tutor, Evan Smith said: “It was another successful year and we are really pleased with the way everyone responded and gave it a go.
“Everyone had fun and the concert went down really well with the audience.”
The band meet on a Monday and Thursday and welcome new players to either the junior section, 6.30pm- 7.30pm, or the senior section, 7.30pm- 9.30pm.
