IF you have a business idea pop down to your local credit union.
Gateway is working with the Robert Owen Community Banking Fund to offer business start-up loans in Torfaen and Monmouthshire.
Gateway has always lent to members who are self-employed, but has never previously been able to lend to people who want to start a new business. T
he loans come from the government’s business start-up company and are subject to a full assessment of your business idea.
You will need to show that you have thought the idea through and have the necessary skills to make your business a success and pay back the loan, and can show how you will live while you build up your business.
Experienced volunteer mentors are offering help to applicants in preparing their application to the fund, and there is business help and advice available to help you get off to a good start.
So far, applicants range from professional people wanting a career change to unemployed parents wanting to work from home, with plans for all kinds of businesses.
