TWO people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car collided with pedestrians in Pill last night.
A woman has been left with injuries described as "life changing" following the incident.
Police were called to Commercial Road, Pill at about 6.30pm after reports that a car had collided with a number of pedestrians in the street.
Three people were injured as a result of the collision and five were injured after a fight.
Six people were arrested - five last night and one this morning:
A 27 year old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and violent disorder
A 21 year old arrested on suspicion of violent disorder
A 25 year old man arrested on suspicion of violent Disorder
A 25 year old man arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and attempted section 18 assault
A 28 year old man arrested on suspicion of violent disorder
A 29 year old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
All of those arrested except the 29-year-old man, sustained injuries.
Additionally a 31-year-old woman, a 27-year-old woman and a 25-year-old woman sustained injuries.
Only the injuries sustained by the 31-year-old woman are described as life-changing. All of those injured received treatment at the Royal Gwent Hospital apart from one who was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
Officers have been in the area since the incident and are available to speak to anyone who may have any concerns.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed four people were taken the Royal Gwent Hospital after last night's incident in Dolphin Court near Commercial Street.
"We responded with two rapid response vehicles, two emergency ambulances and three hazardous area response team vehicles. Four casualties were taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.”

UP to four people were taken to hospital after a "serious incident" in Newport this evening.
Police set up a cordon in Francis Drive, Pill, after 6.30pm.
Gwent Police Insp Carl Williams said the incident was treated as "serious" but stressed the casualties did not sustain life threatening injuries.
Police added that no arrests had been made and are urging witnesses to call 101, quoting the log reference number 475/03/08/2014.
