CCTV footage of missing Cwm man David Edwards has shown he was last at his home on July 27, his family says.

The footage taken from his home at Cwm Rhydderch Court in Cwm on July 27 at 5.30am, shows the 79-year-old wearing what police describe as a long grey coat and a brown beanie hat, rather than the blue shirt and brown trousers that he was originally thought to be wearing.

Initial reports from police stated that Mr Edwards was last seen the day on July 26.

His niece, Tracey Rowland, 51, from Ebbw Vale, said the family are doing everything they can to find Mr Edwards, including setting up a public Facebook page appealing to the public to come forward with information about his disappearance.

“The police have said that David was last seen at 5.30am on Sunday, July 27,” she said.

“We have been thinking of all the places that he used to go – places where he used to take family members out for walks – anywhere we can think of where he used to go.

“We have looked for him ourselves but have not organised anything because police don’t want us to interfere with any evidence.

“Our cousin and her daughter have also been putting up posters around Cwm in pubs and clubs.”

Mr Edwards worked in both the mining industry and in the steelworks before he retired, and has suffered with a bad back for several years.

Mrs Rowland said that Mr Edwards used to frequent the Garden City and Cwm Waun Llwyd areas.

“Anybody who has any information regarding his safety or whereabouts please contact the police,”

she said, adding that “it has been a while now” since he went missing.

His niece previously said that Mr Edwards suffered with some ill health.

“He takes tablets for his blood pressure,” she told the Argus.

“We think he may be a little bit depressed at the moment, but this came out of the blue.

“It’s so strange and not at all like him.”

Mr Edwards is described as white, around 5ft 2in tall, of frail build with shaved grey/white hair.
