ICONIC venues in both Newport and Cardiff have been chosen to host various events during the Nato summit.

Cardiff Castle and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama will be used as dinner venues along with Cardiff Bay where the Royal Navy’s newest type 45 destroyer, HMS Duncan, will be docked throughout the summit. They will host heads of state and government, foreign ministers and defence ministers from the all 28 countries, while Newport’s Tredegar House will also host a reception for hundreds of media personnel due to cover the meeting.

The First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones AM, said: “I am delighted that some of the most striking buildings in both Newport and Cardiff will be used to showcase the best of Welsh hospitality during the NATO summit. This announcement adds to the excitement building around the event.

“The eyes of the world will be on Wales and a huge amount of work is underway to ensure that it is a smooth and successful summit, with close co-operation between the Welsh and UK Governments to maximise this unique opportunity.”

Welsh food and drink will be served as the UK and Welsh governments seize the opportunity to showcase Wales to the world.

Stephen Crabb, Secretary of State for Wales, said: "Not only will the Nato summit in Newport be the largest gathering of international leaders ever to take place in Britain, it is also an unprecedented opportunity to showcase Wales on a global stage."
