LIMITED edition prints of the Celtic Manor created by a leading digital artist are to be given to world leaders at the Nato summit, the Argus can reveal.
iPad artist Joseph Connor, 51, produced the atmospheric artwork of the Nato summit on his tablet one evening in January.
The Newport dad said the Foreign and Commonwealth Office called him out of the blue to ask him about his work in the spring.
Then about two weeks ago they contacted him again to ask him if he would like the piece of art, called Celtic Approach, to be given as a gift to summit statesmen.
Mr Connor told the Argus: “I was quite excited. Digital art doesn’t have a profile in established galleries in the UK.
“It’s a recognition not of me but of the medium.”
A Nato spokeswoman confirmed the artwork would be given to world leaders.
Mr Connor said he was invited to the summit but could not make it because of a prior engagement.
The iPad artist said that the signed, limited edition A4 prints would be framed and wrapped when presented to the world leaders.
He added: “This is the first time world leaders will be given a gift of this kind, reflecting Wales’ leadership in art and technology.
“This is great news for Welsh landscape artists and digital art more broadly.
“Recognition that compelling art can be created via mobile digital devices I feel sure will increase as a consequence.”
