CROWDS were gathered across Newport to watch the diaply of Nato jets as the flew across the city this morning.
The flypast, featuring the RAF Red Arrows and aircraft from six other Nato air forces thundered across the sky on its way to the Celtic Manor at around 9am having flown over Cardiff Bay minutes before.
The Red Arrows released stunning pictures from the cockpit of one of their Hawk aircraft as they flew over the Usk and the Celtic Manor.
The formation was as follows:
1st group - RAF Typhoon and 2 Polish Air Force Mig-29s
2nd group - RAF Typhoon and French Air Force Mirage 2000 (delta-winged) and F-16
3nd group - Eurofighter from German Air Force and 2 F-16s
4th group - Royal Canadian Air Force F-18 and 2 US Air Force F-15 Eagles
5th RAF Voyager tanker/transport
6th BAE Hawks of the RAF Red Arrows
The F-16s were from Denmark and Portugal
