Armed with new songs, a new direction and a new lease of life, Jack Savoretti is set to release his stunning new LP ‘Written In Scars’ on February 9 on BMG Chrysalis.
Writing with some of the hottest talents around and brimming with confidence and style ‘Written In Scars’ sees Jack at the peak of his career. From opening track ‘Back To Me’, Jack’s intentions are made clear. Infectiously rhythmic and beautifully arranged, the track, co-written and co-produced by Samuel Dixon (Adele’s musical director and Sia’s main co-writer) is available as an instant grat with album preorder from now.
On this album Jack Savoretti has not only found his voice musically but also vocally, turning in a performance that sits easily alongside the likes of Paolo Nutini and George Ezra. The first single released from the album was the Radio 2 playlisted ‘Tie Me Down’, co-written with Matty Benbrook (Jake Bugg), and is a fine example of his warm, rasping, sultry vocals.
Having sold out his Tabernacle show in a matter of hours, Jack will be hitting the road playing eight UK dates, including a hotly anticipated show at Shepherd’s Bush Empire on March 4th throughout February 2015.
Jack recently answered questions poised by Andy Howells.
How did you start playing music?
I started playing music 15 years ago when I realised it was easier to write songs then to learn other people’s songs.
Where are you from?
That’s a tough question. I was born in London to parents from Italian, German and Polish roots. I grew up between England, Italy, Switzerland & America to keep it simple
How would you describe your music style?
I think it’s impossible for me to describe my own music, I’m too close to it. I like to tell stories with my songs and for my new album I approached each song from the rhythm upwards. I was watching a documentary on Paul Simon and he starts all of his albums so I thought I would try it out.
What’s been your best live experience?
Playing at the stadium of Genoa FC was pretty amazing. I’m glad we captured it for the music video of my new single ‘Home’
You have a new album coming soon can you tell us more about that?
Every song for the new album Written In Scars was recorded the same day it was written. At the risk of sounding cliche it’s the record I’ve always wanted to make. Having finally got the chance to work with the different people I’ve always wanted to work with I was able to create the album I’ve always wanted to create.
You’re touring shortly are you looking forward to that?
Yes and I am especially looking forward to playing my largest UK headline show to date at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire on the 4th March
What can people expect from your forthcoming Cardiff gig?
I’ll be playing new songs to old friends. Cardiff is always an amazing stop on the tour and over the years I have gotten to know some good people there
Where can people hear your music?
In the usual places. HMV, iTunes, Spotify… Or at one of my shows.
