FUNDRAISERS at a sports club in Undy have already raised £3,000 as part of year long push for a charity based at a centre for children who are disabled or have development difficulties.
Tracy Stafford, a mum-of-two and a barmaid at Undy Athletic Football Club, is spearheading the drive for the Sparkle Appeal.
Her youngest son Coby, who is four, regularly uses the Serennu Children’s Centre in Newport, where the charity is based.
She said: “We have got backing from every single sector [of the club].
“Everyone knows Coby and understands what the centre does.
“All the children locally who have development difficulties use the centre. It is being supported around Undy and Magor. Everyone’s generosity has been overwhelming.”
And she said she was aware of at least 12 children in Magor and Undy who regularly use the centre.
Other events are planned for the next few months.
Last Saturday alone, club members chipped in £400 to boost the total with proceeds from a curry night and a Play Your Cards Right game.
The fundraisers’ next big event, Mr Undy Athletic, will be held at the club on March 28.
A Caribbean Cocktail Summer Spectacular will also be held on May 16.
