GWENT residents had a flipping good time when they entered events to celebrate Pancake Day.
Teams from local pubs and shops took part in the Friends of Tintern's annual pancake race at 10.30am.
The race course started at the Anchor Hotel, then along to the top of Abbey Road and back.
Three teams took part in this year's race which was won by the Anchor, who retained their trophy. Landlord Peter Gowing, of the Anchor Hotel team, said: "Well done to Lee, who fell over but still managed to hold on to his pancake."
Children at Acorns Nursery in Lighthouse Road, Duffryn, also enjoyed fun events.
Pancake-themed activities included races, singing, painting and colouring and making pancakes out of paper plates.
Manager Claire Thomas said: "The children have been having a lovely time. They were looking forward to pancakes for their lunch."
