Credit Union can help you save: Credit Unions are financial co-operatives owned and managed by the members who use them.
A collection point for one has been set up in Cwmfelinfach Community Centre on Monday mornings, it follows directly after Mothers and Toddlers Group and will run from 11.30am to 12.30pm.
Jaki Southgate of Caerphilly Credit Union said: "Credit unions are not-for-profit organisation and exist solely to serve their members.
"This means low cost loans are available to those who join and save regularly and are a safe alternative to people saving or borrowing for anything, especially Christmas."
The Welsh Assembly Government is encouraging the public to make greater use of credit unions and the Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations supports the idea because unions are non-profit making organisations.
Approximately 80 per cent of credit union staff are specially trained volunteers and there are three credit unions in Caerphilly County Borough, so you are never far from one.
All credit unions offer collection point facilities. For more information call the Credit Union Helpline on 0808 1 45 45 50 or the Wales Co-operative Centre on 02920 554955.
Credit unions are regulated by the Financial Services Authority.
