RUGBY fans were able to enjoy a family village set up for them before and after a monumental match at Rodney Parade in Newport on Saturday.
Fans were encouraged to get to the ground early, with children able to enjoy a funfair, have their face painted and practise their rugby skills as Newport Gwent Dragons beat their fierce rivals Cardiff Blues.
Celtic and roots band Murphy’s Marbles entertained crowds inside the 1,000 capacity family village.
BT Sport, who showed the match on their BT Sport 2 channel along with live interviews and analysis, also sponsored thousands of Euro quarter-final celebrations flags for the fans.
The Dragons fought back from a losing position against Cardiff Blues to reach the European Challenge Cup semi-finals, winning 25-21.
The channel’s Sarra Elgan presented the TV coverage - along with Ben Kay, Shane Williams and Ryan Jones - of the first all-Welsh European quarter-final for more than 15 years.
Dragons director of rugby Lyn Jones was later interviewed inside the fan zone.
In their cup run the Dragons have beaten Stade Francais twice, Bucharest and Newcastle Falcons.
Newport RFC and Cross Keys later battled it out at Rodney Parade, with the hosts going down 20-13
