UPDATE: 4.22PM
A CRASH on the M4 which caused eight mile tailbacks earlier today, resulted in one person being taken to hospital.
The Welsh Ambulance Service was called to a two-vehicle collision on the westbound carriageway between junctions 27 and 28 at 1.37pm.
An emergency ambulance and a BASICS doctor attended the scene, and one person was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital it was confirmed.
Gwent Police said that the vehicles were recovered and the lanes were reopened around 2.55pm.
There was a second crash by the Brynglas Tunnels, also westbound, at 2.20pm, between a car and a lorry.
No one was injured.
QUEUEING traffic is reported for eight miles on the M4 westbound between J27 at Highcross and J28 at Tredegar Park because of an accident earlier on.
All lanes have been re-opened, but congestion is stretching to J24 at the Coldra.
