THE speed limit on a Chepstow road is expected to be reduced in anticipation of a new housing development being built nearby.
Monmouthshire council officers proposed a 30mph limit is introduced onto part of the B4235 near the Racecourse Garage. The new order would run on the road from its junction with the A466 St Lawrence Road for 178 metres.
The authority said it would improve highway safety for all road users.
Although the cabinet member responsible for the order, Cllr Bryan Jones, did not attend the council to sign the order on Wednesday, it will be published today as having been ratified. It will then be subject to a call-in from councillors who can object to it for five days and force further scrutiny.
