SOUTH Wales Fire and Rescue said they are grateful for the number of of people phoning them with information following a series of grass fires on Saturday night.
Crews attended a deliberate grass fire in Cwmtillery, which destroyed half an acre of woodland, at just before 8pm on Saturday, April 11.
Aberbargoed crews also fought a deliberate grass fire involving six hectares of grassland in Hengoed at 9.11pm using beaters and hosereels, while grass was also deliberately set on fire in Abertillery at 11.46pm on Saturday.
Deliberate grass fires were also set at Trevethin in Pontypool at 8.29pm and Tredegar at 8.39pm.
Head of South Wales Fire and Rescue's Fire Control, Jennie Griffiths, thanked members of the public who have provided "valuable information particularly in relation to suspects".
