A CHEPSTOW post office will move a short distance from its current location to a new base, subject to a public consultation.
It is proposed the post office on Bulwark Road moves to the Londis store in July 2015.
The Post Office said it is inviting customers and interested parties to give comments on the move as part of a six week public consultation, which started on Friday.
Post Office regional manager Adrian Wales said: “We understand how important having a post office is to local residents in Bulwark and we are confident that this new modern branch will make it easier for our customers to do business with us and also secure services for the future”.
“This change is part of a major programme of modernisation and investment taking place across the Post Office network, the largest in the history of the Post Office, which will see up to 8,000 branches modernised and additional investment in over 3,000 community and outreach branches. This investment makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
Opening hours at the new branch would be 7am until 7pm, Monday to Saturday and then from 8am until 3pm on Sunday. This would be an extra 33 hours open per week to the current opening times.
The consultation on the move will close on May 22. Submissions can be sent online at postofficeviews.co.uk and by entering a branch specific code, 40663299.
