WORK to build a new café, kitchen and serving area at a social care centre in Abergavenny is progressing well.
The café at Mardy Park Resource Centre is set to open next month after work started in January.
Opening times will be limited from 12pm until 2pm but Monmouthshire council said they anticipate hours will be extended over time to respond to demand.
The centre’s manager Stephen Clarke said: “We are really looking forward to the new café opening. It will offer people somewhere to stop for a coffee and a chat, or even enjoy a spot of lunch or a quick snack.
“The café will complement the existing facilities at Mardy Park and will provide a real focus point for the local community. By expanding this area, it is hoped it will develop into a real community hub, a place to unwind with friends, for groups to meet, and people to come and find out what is happening in their local community.”
Free wireless internet access will be provided at the café and will be supported by staff already based at Mardy Park.
