A NEWPORT primary school pupil hopes to kick-start her modelling career as she enters the final stage of a national modelling completion.
Nine-year-old Evie McLoughlin, from St Julian’s, will strut her stuff at the final of Mini Model 2015 along with other aspiring models at the Great Northern Hotel in Peterborough on May 17.
The competition is a national child model search for Every Model magazine hosted by the winner of the EMG Model search 2014, model Frankie Spooner.
The year four pupil was signed up to acting and modelling job website Star Now by mum Catherine McLoughlin back in March and was approached by the popular magazine to enter her daughter into the competition.
“I registered her [on the website] and applied for the modelling completion,” Ms McLoughlin said. “I had to send more photos of her and we got into the semi final where we travelled up to Rutland for an interview process and she was selected as a finalist.” Evie, who dances and does gymnastics, as well as taking part in a scholarship called Duets at the Riverfront Theatre in Newport, has just been sponsored by Cwmbran Redz Snooker Club.
Should she win, the St Julian’s Primary pupil will be signed to an agency for a year and take part in a photoshoot with a professional photographer.
“She has already done a video and some modelling for students at Caerleon University,” her mum added.
“This is something she wants to pursue as a career.”
