FIREFIGHTERS tackled eight grass fires across Gwent overnight.
Aberbargoed crew attended to a grass fire near St Sannan Road in Pontllanfraith, Blackwood, at 6.29pm. They left the scene at 7.33pm.
Crews from Aberbargoed also attended a fire which destroyed three hectares of bracken near Markham Colliery at 5.14pm. Crews left the scene at 6.08pm.
Blaenavon crew attended to a school bus on fire on Llanfoist Crescent at 3.25pm but the fire was out on arrival. A South Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said that all passengers were safe and well.
Malpas crew attended a grass fire earlier on in the day near Soho Street in Newport. They received the call at 4.09pm and left the scene at 4.24pm.
Duffryn crew attending to the another grass fire at the Golf Links on the Gaer in Newport at 3.20pm and left the scene at 4.24pm.
