A FUNDRAISING mum has had her beautiful locks shaved to raise cash for charities helping Parkinson’s sufferers and children blighted by hair loss.
Mother-of- two Sarah Carmock was surrounded by relatives and friends when her 24 inch mane of hair was cut at Ice Hair & Hair and Beauty in Cwmbran on Saturday.
She is raising money for Parkinson’s UK as her 69-year-old dad Len Burbidge has had the disease for nine years.
She is also collecting funds for the Little Princess Trust which provides real hair wigs for children suffering hair loss.
The Cwmbran mum hopes she can gather more cash than her 16-year-old daughter Nicole who collected £1,500 through a charity head shave last year.
Sarah, 39, said she felt liberated by her lack of hair.
“It was quite emotional because my dad kept it a secret," she said. "I had lots of friends and family around.
“It’s amazing having no hair. You feel free.”
Sarah has already collected about £700. To donate funds log on to her two justgiving.com accounts.
