FIREFIGHTERS were called to a number of deliberate fires across Gwent at the weekend.
In Newport on Saturday, crews from Duffryn responded to put out a blaze behind a barn in Maesglas on 8.37pm, while Maindee crew put out a deliberately set grass fire on Orb Drive in the city at 5.12pm.
Another grass fire near Waunlwyd Junior School in Ebbw Vale was put out by Tredegar fire fighters at 4.29pm. A crew from Aberbargoed put out another in Penllwyn, Pontllanfraith at 6.46pm.
