THE search has begun in Wales to find the best trade apprentice in the UK.
Screwfix, which has stores in Cwmbran and Newport, is launching the competition for budding builders and the next generation of electricians and plumbers.
Finalists from around the UK will go head to head at Google HQ to be named the best in Britain.
The prize on offer is a chance to win a trade business pack worth £10,000 containing everything they need to set up on their own.
This year’s winner will receive a brilliant business pack including a Google Nexus smart phone and tablet and a top of the range laptop, as well as £3,500 worth of Screwfix products and up to £4,000 to spend on training courses to further enhance their career.
John Mewett, marketing director at Screwfix, said: “As a key supplier to the trade we believe it’s vital that we recognise and reward the future tradesmen across the UK as they really are the foundation of any community, ensuring homes and businesses are fit for purpose.”
