NEWPORT Trades Union Council and Newport Equality Group are hosting a hustings meeting for General Election candidates at the Castle Room of the Newport Centre tomorrow at 7.30pm.
Members of the public will have an opportunity to quiz prospective parliamentary candidates for both Newport East and Newport West on issues such as public services, social inequality, jobs, economic regeneration and possible coalitions.
The following prospective parliamentary candidates have confirmed their attendance – Paul Flynn (Labour), David Mclean (Green Party) and Paul Halliday (Liberal Democrats). Candidates from Plaid Cymru and Ukip are expected to attend.
Newport Trades Union Secretary June Ralph said: “This will be a very closely fought election and voters are keen to discuss issues which affect their families and local communities. I’m sure there will be a lively debate and an opportunity for the public to get answers from the candidates who will be present.”
