A TEENAGE girl has been arrested after a pupil was injured at a Valleys school this morning.
Police were called to Bedwas High School at about 11.05am after receiving report of an incident in which a 15-year-old girl received an injury. She was taken to hospital for treatment for a cut to the cheek. A knife was recovered at the scene.
Another 15-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently in custody.
Gwent Police said officers are working closely with the school to establish the circumstances of the incident which is believed to be isolated and to not involve any other pupils.
A spokeswoman on behalf of Caerphilly council and Bedwas High School said: "We can confirm an isolated incident took place at Bedwas High School earlier today, which was swiftly dealt with by staff and Gwent Police.
“Support is in place for both pupils and staff and we would like to assure parents that all appropriate steps were taken to respond effectively to the situation. We are now helping the police with their enquiries.”
