POLICE leaders from across Wales meet in Newport for a two-day conference this week.
The four Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) from across Wales, Chief Constables and their representatives met at Newport’s Hilton Hotel for the All Wales Policing Group Conference, held on Wednesday and yesterday.
The group meets every quarter and this month’s conference was hosted by Gwent’s PCC Ian Johnston. They discussed issues including healthcare for vulnerable people detained in police custody, how police forces could work more collaboratively and commissioning services for crime victims.
Mr Johnston said: “Collaboration is vital and a lot can be achieved by working effectively with the other Forces and Commissioners on certain issues. It’s important that we support each other in Wales, discuss these issues and share best practice to find a common solution to some of the challenges we face.”
