Liberal Democrats – Paul Halliday
Paul Halliday is a Minister and retail development manager who has been a part of Newport's community for almost 10 years.
Honest and compassionate, he is the people's voice on some of biggest changes Newport has seen in a generation.
When the University of South Wales announced that Caerleon campus was set to close Paul called on the Welsh Labour Government to reverse this closure and keep the vital campus open.
Paul campaigns to keep Newport's libraries open, to save Newport's heritage, for the scrapping of the Severn Tolls and improved transport links across South East Wales
Only Paul and the Welsh Liberal Democrats can beat Labour in Newport East. A vote for anyone else will see a Labour puppet head back to Westminster and leave the people of Newport with nobody fighting their corner for another five years.

Green – David McLean
It’s time for Newport to get selfish. It’s time to put the interests of Newport and its people above the interests of multinational corporations and shareholders elsewhere in the world.
It’s time to rebuild a strong and sustainable Newport, with a sustainable economy driven by locally owned private sector business supporting proper jobs, genuine career prospects, and profits that remains in the city. We need to stand firm against the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), tax dodging, and creeping privatisation of essential services that will hit Newport hardest.
And we need to stand against the idea that we can just keep building in Newport with no regard to integrated transport and which is creating an increasingly gridlocked city. The time has come for Newport to change.

Labour – Jessica Morden
I live in Newport East and will always put our constituency first.
If re-elected, I will continue to campaign with local groups for better rail services, a reduction in Severn Bridge tolls, more support for local industry and the continued regeneration of Newport and our local communities.
A Labour government will increase the Minimum Wage, give tax breaks to employers to pay the Living Wage, and tackle exploitative zero hours contracts. We will pay for this by bringing in a Mansion Tax, reinstating a tax on bankers’ bonuses, bringing back the 50p tax rate for those earning over £150,000. A Labour Government will reduce the deficit in a fair way.

Plaid Cymru – Tony Salkeld
Tony Salkeld is a single parent who was born and raised and still lives in Newport.
Tony has previously served in the Armed Forces and is presently employed as an office manager for Jocelyn Davies AM
If elected as an MP, Tony will work with local businesses to boost employment opportunities in the area and secure new investment.
He believes that Plaid Cymru’s vision of a taxation system that encourages and supports business growth, with more small businesses helped with or exempt from business rates can help achieve this.
He will also work with schools and further education establishments, with teachers and parents to improve educational standards and skills so that local young people have the abilities they need to secure well-paid, highly skilled work.

Socialist Labour Party – Shangara Singh Bhatoe
My name is Shangara Singh, 54, married with grown up children and 3 young grandchildren. I have been actively involved in politics since my early teens. My background was in social housing where I was a board member for a number of years. For the last fifteen years I have worked in the mental health services. I would make that sure that local services are protected especially the NHS; which has slowly been dismantled by the current Welsh Government and central government at Westminster. My other priority in Newport would be housing and employment.

UKIP – David Stock
David is 52 and was born and bred in Newport East.
He has worked in the steel industry for the past 27 years working hard to achieve his current position as Material Handling Instructor training the next generation of steel workers in South Wales at Llanwern, Orb and Port Talbot.
He hopes to bring a fresh voice for the people of Newport East. For too long now parliament has been dominated by the professional politician who has become remote from the average voter.
Parliament needs to draw from the wide variety of background skills and experiences that exist across the country to provide a voice for all the country.
UKIP is a diverse party drawing support from every community.
He will speak for all the community and make sure your voice is heard.
