A FORTY-eight hour dispersal order is being issued for Cwmbran town centre from 5pm today following reports of anti-social behaviour.
This is the third weekend in a row that a dispersal order has been issued by Torfaen Inspector Dave Morgan.
The order gives police officers and community support officers the power to direct anyone to leave the specified area if they are involved in anti-social behaviour. If they return to that area after being directed to leave, they could be arrested.
The order will apply to the town centre, including: Caradoc Road, Glyndwr Road, Tudor Road, Llewellyn Road, North Walk, South Walk, Llewellyn Walk, General Rees Square, The Walk and Gwent Square.
The first 48-hour dispersal order was issued on Friday, April 17 and officers directed four individuals to leave the area.
During the period of the second dispersal order, which was issued on Friday, April 24, officers did not have to direct anyone to leave the area.
Torfaen Crime and Disorder Reduction Officer, PC Tom Delaney, said: “We have seen some improvements regarding anti-social behaviour in the town centre. However, we are still receiving reports about young people causing issues, again around the area of McDonalds and the Caradoc Road car park.
“Local officers will be patrolling in the area over the weekend to enforce the dispersal order and prevent any incidents.
“If you would like to report any issues of anti-social behaviour, please contact us on 101.”
The dispersal order will commence at 5pm and will run until 5pm on Sunday, May 3.
